Looking for a frosting that doesn't use a truck load of sugar but still is yummilicious?
Well, look no more my friends.
Today we will make this super easy healthy chocolate frosting that you can basically put on everything.
Cupcakes, cakes, muffins, toasts. Yep!
Healthy Or Healthier
We need to understand the word healthy.
Healthy means the ingredients that we use are the wonderful natural ones with lots of nutritions and health benefits or superfood.
Healthy doesn't always mean low calorie.
Low calorie doesn't always mean healthy.
It's healthier to enjoy snacks of mixed nuts (higher calorie) than a small bag of chips (lower or similar calorie).
Most important thing is to look at the quality of the ingredients and of course, moderation is always the key.
Hey I'm not a nutritionist at all, just sharing some information so that we all can happily embark on our healthier journey 🙂
All You Need To Know About This Healthy Frosting
This is a super easy frosting to make. All you need is some good quality ingredients, a bowl and whisk. You're set!
However, here are some tips so that you can get this super easy frosting right the first time.
Smooth creamy peanut butter
Yes. Don't use crunchy peanut butter unless you don't mind the look in your frosting.
Use creamy smooth peanut butter, the one that the oil doesn't split from the peanut butter. I've tried using the one that you need to mix the split oil into the peanut butter before using it and nope, it doesn't work for this frosting.
The oil will split too much too fast and you will end up with a very oily frosting.
Hey you can also use almond butter if you want.
Adjust the sweetness and consistency
This is the consistency that I like for my healthy chocolate cupcakes.
You can of course adjust the sweetness and the consistency to your liking. Like it looser, add more almond milk. Like it sweeter, add more maple syrup.
My suggestion is if you're adding more maple syrup than my recipe, then reduce the same amount of the almond milk (or any type of milk that you're using).
Use immediately
Since this frosting doesn't have a huge amount of sugar to help stiffen it, then I recommended that you use the frosting immediately after making it.
If your place is very hot (like mine) then you would want to make and frost your cupcakes, cakes or muffins right before serving.
I don't recommend you chilling this frosting in the fridge, unless your accidentally have the consistency too thin. Then yes, chill it JUST until it stiffen a bit and whisk it again. Don't chill too long else it will get stiff and you can't frost with it.
Well there you go, a healthy versatile chocolate frosting that you can use whenever you want. Hope you'll give this a try and like always, do leave a comment below and rate my recipes if you've made them.

- Note: Read my tips above on what peanut butter to use, how to adjust the sweetness and consistency to your liking.

Can you taste the peanut butter
Yes, you can.
Hi... instead of peanut butter... can i use salted butter??
Sorry, but no, that will ruin your frosting as it will end up way too salty.
Hi, I know you mentioned it's a recipe to use to frost the cupcakes right before serving them. If I want to do these for snack packs would they last 2-3 days. Or should I chill the cupcakes after frosting and then take out on the day I serving. Any ideas/suggestions will be great.
I haven't tried, but yeah, like you said, I would chill the cupcakes after frosting.
