Steamed fish with aromatic lemongrass and refreshing lime sauce. Super easy and healthy recipe, best eaten with a bowl of rice or simply like that.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup hot water (125 ml)
  • ½ teaspoon chicken bouillon
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 5 garlic cloves , miced
  • 2 Thai chillies , finely chopped
  • ¼ cup coriander leaves , finely chopped
  • 2 limes , take the juice
  • 2 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 9 oz golden sea bream (250 g)
  • 1 lemongrass , bruised and cut into 2 inches length

Instructions

  • In a bowl, add in hot water, chicken bouillon and granulated sugar. Mix until the sugar is dissolved and set aside until the mixture has cooled a bit.
  • Add in garlic, chillies, coriander leaves, lime juice and fish sauce. Mix everything together and set aside.
  • Prepare your steamer. If you're using an electric steamer like me, place a baking sheet inside the steamer container and leave it overhangs on the sides. This is to make it easier to handle the fish when it's cooked. Place the fish inside. Put the lemongrass inside its cavity. Cover the steamer and steam for 15-20 minutes or until the fish is fully cooked.
  • When fully cooked, using the overhanging baking sheet, lift up the fish and discard any liquid. Place the fish in a serving plate. Pour the sauce on top of it and enjoy it with a bowl of white rice!

Notes

I actually steamed 2 fish of 250 g for this amount of sauce. I just showed 1 fish in the video.
