Easy Homemade Korean BBQ Sauce

With less ingredients and cooking time, this sauce is just perfect to use for your grilled chicken, meat, fish and can also be used as a condiment.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup low sodium soy sauce (125 ml)
  • ½ cup water (125 ml)
  • cup brown sugar (110 gr)
  • 3 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon gochujang (30 gr)
  • ½ teaspoon white pepper powder
  • 4 garlic cloves , grated
  • 1 thumb sized ginger , grated
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch (8 gr)
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients in a pan, except for corn starch and 1 tablespoon water, and bring to a boil on medium heat. Use a whisk to mix everything well.
  • Mix corn starch with 1 tablespoon water. Once the sauce is boiling, add in corn starch mixture while mixing. Continue to cook for a few minutes until the sauce thicken.

How To Store

  • Place in an air tight container and keep in the fridge. Last up to 1 month.
  • Portion it by putting in small ziplock bags and freeze. Thaw in the fridge before using.

How To Use

  • Use it on your grilled chicken, meat or fish.
  • Use it for veggies stir fry.
  • Use it as a condiment.

Substitute For Gochujang

  • You can use sriracha or any type of sweet spicy chili paste, adjust the amount accordingly.

Notes

This recipe makes 1 ½ cups of sauce.
